Sue & Scott’s Blog - 2016

Blog 1: very nice day yesterday.....had a great lunch with our cruise friends from London, Ontario, sail away wine with our friends from Ocala, and a lovely dinner.....however, this morning we had a medical emergency.....Scott almost died because there were No Capers for his smoked salmon!!!!  We call it Caper-Geddon!!  That problem got solved after we had Champange and Bellinis, and VOILA!  There were CAPERS!!  Whew....close one.

On to Trivia

Caio for Now!

Blog 2: It's Thursday, middle of the Atlantic, everything is going fine and we even had 2 perfect Trivia scores.....YEAH, however we CHOKED today and probably dropped to 4th place.....you don't even get a stupid PEN for 4th place!!

Haven't poked my nosed outside yet, too windy and cold, but that hasn't stopped all the northern European men from putting on their SPEEDOS and going to the pool......EYE BLEACH NEEDED ASAP!!!!

We've met a great couple from Brisbane, and they enjoy the free Happy Hours as much as we do.....actually nobody enjoys them as much as we do!!  They have taught us a lot of Aussie words such as a loser boyfriend or girlfriend of their kids is called a "No Hoper".....sounds so much better than LOSER!

We get to the Canary Islands on Sunday, hopefully Tenerife won't be cold and rainy, it's such a pretty place.....and I'm praying that the department store will be open since it's my favorite TINKLE stop!!!!!

Hope everything is great with all of you.....write us....we have plenty of Internet time!!  Would love to hear from you!

Blog 3: First land yesterday, Tenerife, Canary Islands....beautiful city with "pointy" mountains and a huge city with high rises.  Went to Mass at an old Church, then walked the market....not too exciting as it was Sunday and everything else was closed.

well, we cratered at Trivia....4th place.....worst ever!  We did beat the Hotel Director, can't pronounce his name, Nyazi, so I just call him "HANDSOME".......he Likes that BETTER!!  Anyway beat him at BAGGO, but then he beat us at Bocce....GAME ON!!

Update on the SPEEDO  situation....we have now learned what they are really called...(don't read any further if you have a weak stomach...you've been warned!)..,they are called "Budgie Smugglers"!!!!!  (budgies being small parakeets)!  OMG!

Entertainment has been awesome....a black guy singer, cross between James Brown, Ben Vereen and Sammy Davis.....one of his TEETH flew out of his mouth but he didn't miss a beat!  At the end of his show, he just said "Is there a dentist in the crowd?"....Standing Ovation.....no dentist to be found!

Had a very hilarious piano player singer from Armenia....ARMENIA!!!  never knew anything funny came from Armenia!!

Well, off to Captains Party....tomorrow Malaga Spain where Picasso is from.

Blog 4: We've been so busy that I have forgotten half of what we did since Canary Islands, but here goes.....Malaga, Spain was beautiful as usual....home of Picasso and the streets and sidewalks are gorgeous marble tiles......not too shabby!!    Then we went to Cartengna, Spain...MORE beautiful marble tiled sidewalks and streets.  Went to the roman theater ruins in town....

Next  stop was overnight in Barcelona and we walked 3 miles to Sagrada Familia, the HUGE Church designed by Gaudi......(took a cab back....3 Miles....HELLO!!!!) Iknow some of you reading this Love this Church, but I call it the "Kitchen Sink" Church because they have put EVERYTHING on the facade that you can think of!!! Huge Turtles at the base of the columns,  lizards, Fruit Baskets, And many more things!!   Inside, the columns at the top look like trees....very unusual.....they MIGHT be finished in 10 years, but I doubt it.....it's a very strange Church, imho.

Then to Nice, France, which was much nicer this time....took a tour with 12 people and went to Monte Carlo, Monaco, saw the steep curve on the upper corniche where Princess Grace was killed....Next to St. Paul de Vence.....FABULOUS stone medieval village in the hills, skinny, skinny  rocky pedestrian streets that are a TON of steps and slopes....it was really something to see!  We also went to EZE which is very similar to St. Paul but STEEPER with MORE steps!!  Everytime the driver started up the van, he had to breathe into a breathalyzer to be able to start!!  it's a law for a van that holds more than 8 people!  Not a bad law as we went on some very scary skinny roads on the edge of steep hills.

We got into Civitevecchia , the port of Rome last night, and we are now on our way for our second cruise......Santorini is our next stop in 2 days....OIA, Santorini is the village with the view of every picture you see of Greece, practically.....like Eze and St Paul, but surrounded by a caldera that was created when the volcano blew and then collapsed on itself.  It is  magical.

Gotta go get ready for dinner....sadly no Happy Two Hours tonight!

Hope everyone is doing great.

Blog 5: hello to all!!

Weds. We were in Santorini, Greece.....unbelievably gorgeous.....we were invited out to the Helipad to watch the Sail-In......FABULOUS!!........took a tender in, then rode the SCARY AS HELL ( I think that's the Real name of it) cable car up the mountain and hie tailed it to Oia, the picture perfect village at the top....wonderful day til we took the SCARY AS HELL cable car down....it's even scarier going down backwards....no wonder the last woman we were on it with last year was SOBBING all the way down!!!

Then we came back and played  Officers vs. passengers trivia....I was made team captain, and I pretty much sucked, or they were given the answers....I like to think they cheated, but we lost, obviously!

Thursday we sailed into Athens, got in a very new nice Mercedes 16 passenger van at 7:30 to go to ancient Corinth, stopping  at the Corinth Canal....pretty much useless, too skinny, so just one tourist boat goes back and forth, but the walls were 250ft high., then off to ancient Corinth where St. Paul stayed for 18 months....our guide spoke more words in 1 hour than Paul said in 18 months!!! YIKES!!  Then back to Athens to eat and shop at the Plaka...a little nicer than the SUK in Istanbul, but just as many smokers!  Then off to the Acropolis and Parthenon.  Had forgotten how SCARY AS HELL the walk up and down is....all slippery marble hunks and steps made uneven by millions and millions of footsteps.  I....FRAIDY CAT ME....had to guide some gals down....Cannot believe they don't have ambulances at the ready ....then stopped to see the first modern Olympic stadium (1896)......little better than the Original Olympic stadium.....it was fine......then back to the ship for Happy Hours!  We are still in ATHENS  today.....it's Good Friday in the Greek Orthodox Church, so everything is closed until noon or later, so Scott went back into Athens alone, after we won at trivia....FINALLY!

On to Mykonos tonite!!

Ciao for now!!

Blog #6: OKAY.... I went off the ship today for 39 SECONDS....windy as hell, so I came right back on the ship, since we've been her twice before, howeverbScottb went ou t for a  couple of  hours and Saw all the Stray cats and said what  we always  say...."so many cats.....so few recipes".....the rest of Greece has stray dogs, Mykonos has stray cats!!  YUK!!

they DO have HUGEnwhite pelicans though!!  Cool...big as swans.....and don't move away when you walk past them!!  FEARLESS!!

Greece is great and beautiful, but until they have toilets that  flush down toilet paper , we are NOT coming back!!  In four thousand years they  haven't figured it out , so not much hope!!!  Seriously....it's PATHETIC!!

Good News ...we won at Trivia tonite...FREE PENS!!!!  YEAH!!!  We are down to 99 of them at home!!  Tomorrow we are in Ephesus, Turkey....St. Paul...letter to the Ephesians....happened here!!

Ciao for now

Blog 7: hello to all!

We went to Bodrum and Kusadashi, Turkey....Bodrum is a resort town with a cool castle built by the Knights of St. John during the Crusades out of the stones of the Mauseleus of Halicarnassus, which was one of the ancient wonders of the world!!  Very cool....some of the stones have the ancient writings on them.  We just walked around in Kusadashi since we,ve been to Ephesus twice before.......it is the CAPITAL of GENUINE FAKE STUFF!!!  EVERYTHING you can imagine has been ripped off!!

Yesterday we were in Chania, Crete....benn there before but very nice and looks like Portofino, ItalyWe,ve walked at least 4 miles everyday, but we,ve eaten and drank so much, we would have to walk 40 miles just to stay even!

We were invited to eat with the Staff Captain and his wife in Tuscan Grill two nights ago ....lovely, but I missed my fav. Dessert in the dining room that night and the maitre d' in the dining room SAVED me one for last night!!  THAT,s why we love Celebrity!!   Everyone knows your name, likes and dislikes in 1 or 2 days!  We have been playing a lot with 6 or 7 of the Senior Officers and Rich, the Cruise Director.......for all of you who know him and his puppet Little Rich, which he brought to us today at Trivia with the officers, and me without a damned camera!!   he is one of the funniest people we know.....plus we beat those cheating officers at Trivia, too!!  Take THAT, STRIPES!!

tomorrow we are in Naples and doing a tour to Poisitano, Ravella, and Pompeii (again) and driving the AMALFI Coast....hope our driver doesn,t drink!!  Then Friday off to the airport to come home....hope the pilots don,t drink either!!!

Love to all....hope everything is great!

Blog 8: hello!!!

Today we went on a 10 hour tour of Pompeii, Ravello...CUTE.....Then to Positano.......UNBELIVEABLE!!!!  Went thru AMALFI , very nice, but the BEST...thr VERY best part was the DRIVE along the AMALFI Coast!!!!  It was SPECTACULAR!!!!  just the drive was worth the price of the tour!!!!!  Quite  a few times the drive r had to fold in his mirror so that a bus could pass him on those teeny, tiny skinny roads!!!!  Needless to say, our driver was GREAT since we came back alive since everyone else PASSED on CURVES!,,,,,, Never seen anything like it !!!

Back to reality tomorrow!!!!

Xox to all,,,,,s

P.s. tonite the maitre d,e STILL had my favorite dessert!!  And we got a nice note from the Customer Service Officer and Richard and little Rich !!  FUNNY!!!  LovE Celebrity!!
